Volunteer Opportunities

This form is to provide a picture of the opportunities for service within our church!  By expressing interest below, you are not committing to join the team; your information will simply be shared with the team leader, who may contact you to provide more details and answer any questions.
You will also be able to request adjustments to your current volunteer schedule.

New Opportunity

The church body has seen an increased need for a Heartland representative dedicated to the facilities to be on site during events. We are looking to begin an "Event Assistant Team" comprised of members interested in learning the ins and outs of the church facilities who are willing to provide support during events such as weddings, funerals, conferences, etc. Let us know if you would be interested in receiving more information and see further role details below.
**Stipend to be received per event.

This new volunteer position will be in place to help with the facilities during events held here at Heartland: weddings, funerals, conferences, etc.
Volunteers will help with set up, tear down, and clean up of the facilities when needed. The team will have a member on site for the length of the event to assist with any facilities issues that may arise and be a Heartland point of contact to those using the facilities.

Sunday Morning Volunteer Teams

Each of these teams play a vital role during our Sunday morning worship services. Please select any area you may be interested in learning more about.

The deacons at Heartland Community Church have implemented a mercy team to help with the needs and requests of those at Heartland and in the community. The team consists of the deacons and members at Heartland. Joining this team would be a two year commitment where you would serve on a team 2 months out of each year. It is an ever growing ministry serving both those in our body and those outside our body who have financial mercy needs.

Have you ever wondered where you could serve within church, but you're not sure where to start? Maybe a behind the scenes area is an easy step in. The Kitchen ministry varies from setting out food for fellowship lunch, prepping food for a small new members class, to helping prepare food for the occasional conference. You DON'T have to be a good cook! Just be willing to help out, whether its setting out plasticware, washing dishes, or cracking eggs in a bowl, there is a job for EVERYONE.

Believing that God has revealed Himself and His will for the church in the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, and that the children of believing parents are included in the covenant community of the church, we seek to communicate the gospel through our words and actions as we partner with families in the discipleship of their children from birth through 5th grade. Volunteering with Children's Ministry not only involves our Sunday morning teams but also includes Sunday School substitutes, assisting during VBS in a variety of ways, childcare during events, and so much more!

The vision of Living 1:27 is to equip the body of Christ to live out James 1:27–”Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” In particular, we are seeking the Lord about how our church can be more involved in foster care. We desire to create support systems around foster families that include meals, babysitting, respite care, and prayer. In addition, we are seeking to raise awareness about the need for foster families, and we promote occasional events to support local organizations that assist foster families and children. Many time commitment levels are available to be involved in this ministry.

At Heartland, we aim to shepherd and disciple our students into the likeness of Jesus. Heartland is committed to equipping students to “play” in the gospel through Bible exposition, prayer, worship, community life, and lots of fun! As a leader, we will equip you to reflect His image, embody the hope and power of the gospel, and sacrificially offer your service to Jesus. You get to do this by helping lead games, worship, small group discussions and prayers, as well as joining in at youth events with the goal of entering into life with them as you reflect Jesus.

The Community Outreach Team exists to lead and mobilize Heartland Community Church in pursuing gospel driven programs and events that demonstrate God’s love to our neighbors and community. On the Outreach Team, we join together to glorify God by promoting opportunities for the church to serve in our community and by facilitating events that form meaningful connections between our neighbors and the church.

The Sufficient Grace Ministry exists to help families affected by disability participate in the life of the church by offering various forms of compassion and support.
- Two times a year we host a "Respite Afternoon" so that caregivers can have a break, and people with disabilities can enjoy activities and fellowship together. We need volunteers to be a "buddy" to participants so they can safely enjoy the activities. Commitment is from 2:00 - 6:15 on a Saturday. (Our next Respite event is Saturday September 6, 2025.)
- When needed a worship room will be provided where there are servants of various ages ready to provide lessons and care at an appropriate level for the individuals attending, regardless of their age.
- Assisting with finding a quiet and comfortable place in the sanctuary and having low stimulus areas in case a calming place is needed.
- Heartland members also actively participate in Joni and Friends Ministries in the Missouri/Kansas region.
